I can't tell you where to find a trial key but I can describe the games' content:
Factions: Was released to improve PvP and has only 13 missions. Allows access to Alliance Battles. The end-game reward items are not very valuable or desired by most players now. Factions introduced the elite mission concept with Urgoz's Warren and The Deep.
Nightfall: Was released to expand on the storyline started in Factions and Prophecies. It contains 25 missions. Allows use of heroes (customizable henchmen). This is not a unique feature as the expansion 'Eye of the North' also has heroes. The end-game reward items have lost their original value but have much better mods than those in Factions. Nightfall's only elite area is the Domain of Anguish.
