Should I buy Guild Wars if Guild Wars 2 is coming out soon?
I've been trying to find a new game to play and started the free trial for Guild Wars. I like it and I'm considering buying it. Is it worth buying Guild Wars with all the campaigns when Guild Wars 2 is coming out soon? Should I just wait? I think the release date was supposed to be sometime in 2011 and now it's in 2012. 1. Yes, Guild Wars 1 is still a lot of fun to play, and through playing it you will develop a good understanding of what is essentially the backstory of Guild Wars 2. You get to see the lands 250 years before the start of GW2, and before they were ravaged by the rise of the Elder Dragons.
Plus, it is a really cool game, very epic and storydriven.
Also, if you play Eye of the North you can accumulate points in your Hall of Monuments (I have a clip about that in the channel below) that translates into gear and titles in Guild Wars 2 for your character there.
2. There is still no releasedate on GW2. Arenanet is stating it will come out "when it is done" (I made a clip about that, too). All dates are just speculation or rumourmongering, but we do know that Arenanet are hoping to go into closed beta this year, and then move into open beta and hopefully launch next year.

ArenaNet themselves have never given a release date, and the 2011 estimates on some websites (such as IGN and Gamestop) were only placeholders by the sites/retailers. The only thing ArenaNet have said is, "when it's done", because they want the game to be the very best they can make, and they will take whatever time they need to make it so. All we know is that the game is in closed alpha testing now, and they will start closed beta before the end of the year. That could take several months. After that there will be a public beta, and then the release.
So personally, I expect the game late Q1 2012/early Q2 2012 at the earliest. It could still be later, though
All this means, that you still have at least several months to play GW1. Right now, there are still plenty of people playing the game, and you should have no problems finding people to adventure with. I do expect this number to drop significantly when GW2 is released, but ArenaNet have said that they will keep the GW1 servers running as long as there are sufficient people playing it, so even after the launch of GW2, you will still be able to continue playing GW1... at least for a while.
Gameplay-wise, GW1 and GW2 are completely different games, and there is no need to play GW1 before playing GW2. However, there are several reasons why you may want to do so anyway:

I'm about to try the free trial of guild wars any suggestions?
One thing that is relevant: Guild Wars has 3 different 'campaigns' (story lines), thus 3 different starting points. There is the original Guild Wars campaign (also called 'Prophecies'), and then there are 'Factions' and 'Nightfall'. I don't know what trial key you have, but if you have a choice, then I recommend doing the Nightfall trial, as that will also (immediately) give you access to 'heroes', which are computer controlled (optional) party members that you can take along everywhere to help you. And Prophecies would put you in an isolated starter area for the first 10-12 levels (equipment, skills etc are extremely limited there, plus unlike Factions and Nightfall, it lacks a true tutorial to explain the game mechanics).I'm about to try the free trial of guild wars any suggestions?

Which class is more fun in Guild Wars, the Archer or the Warrior?

I'm afraid "being more fun to play" is extremely personal... it highly depends on the type of gameplay you like. People who like to get up close, stand in the middle of a group of enemies and survive against all odds, will probably like the warrior the most.
People who like to stay at range and deal damage from a distance, possibly sending on their pet or companions to take the bulk of the damage, will probably like the ranger the most.
Personally I really like the ranger profession, and in combination with the flexible secondary profession system that Guild Wars has, this is an extremely versatile class... ranging from a standard high damage dealing barrage ranger, through pet master, to the powerful ranger-ritualist spirit master (and lots of options in between). But your probably will not be able to really enjoy most of that in the trial... in pre-searing Ascalon, I'd recommend the powerful ranger-mesmer combo.
But actually, because of the secondary profession system, you can actually set up both professions to do almost exactly the same - the most important difference is the profession's primary attribute, in other words if you place more value on ranger's Expertise (reduced energy cost for a lot of skills) or on the Warrior's Strength (increased armor penetration).
So in the end, it all comes back down to what you yourself like to play most...Which class is more fun in Guild Wars, the Archer or the Warrior?

Alright guys, Well I bought Guild Wars Game Of The Year Edition a few years back and Yesterday I found it in my drawer. I looked inside and the Key-Code wasn't in there but the 14 day free trial to Guild wars was in there. With that said, I got 3 questions... Is there any way this can help me get a Key code? How many disks should there be in the case to install Guild Wars? And If I create a username in the free trial, can I use the same username when I install the actual game?Guild wars..........?

I can run Guild Wars at like 1000 frames per second on full settings, and my friend plays online with me and his computer is literally about as s***ty as a computer could possibly be in 2008. Your best bet is to just buy the game, games like this just are not worth playin with the trials and or Illegally!!! you'll have better success just paying the $15 a month for WoW or how ever much Guild Wars charges. Suffice it to say - if you have played using a free trial at any point and know the login to it, and buy the game, you can continue using the same characters/progression.

That's the limitation right there. Only 10 hours.

To above answerer's yes they do offer the game fore free download, but not the trial code (wtf right?). In fact I think some people on amazon are selling it for 5 bucks (free trial for $5?). Trial codes come with the platinum edition of GW, if im correct. To above answerer's yes they do offer the game fore free download, but not the trial code (wtf right?). In fact I think some people on amazon are selling it for 5 bucks (free trial for $5?). I just created an account and downloaded the trial for guild wars. Now, however, I can log in. I've verified my email account and have no idea why I cant log in. I tried my account name and it says its not a valid email address... even though I've verified it. I tried my account name as my email and that isn't recognised. When I try logging in, i use my account name and password, and don't fill in character name because I don't have a character yet because I cant log in.

I have stopped playing the game because of school reasons, but it is better than WOW,(now, if you are a WOW player, I totally respect you, but it takes away your life) you don't have to pay for it, it is more down to earth (but still has that fantasy aspect of it), and the graphics are amazing. I played for about a year, but as I said, I had to stop for school reasons. I personally think that you should get the game, but, I warn you. DON'T GET EYE OF THE NORTH AS YOUR 1ST GAME IT IS AN EXPANSION. If I where you, I would go for either Factions, or Nightfall, both very good games. Anyway, Hope this Helps You, Have fun killin' Stuff!

Ok so i got the trial just to see if i liked it and maybe ill get GW2 but when i try to launch the trial i get a error saying, unable to initialize 3D. Make sure you have directx8 installed(i have 11...) and make sure your video drivers are updated which they are.Guild wars trial error?

How to know if I entered a Guild wars full access key or a trial key?

Sell/trade/drop/get rid of items in Guild Wars trial account?
I just got a trial account in guild wars, and I can't get rid of anything in my backpack! I try to drop it, and it says a guild wars trial account can't do it. I try to trade, same thing. I try to sell something in guild wars, and it says my backpack is empty, even though it's completely full! I can't replace any of my armor, weapons, or shields! I just need a way to get rid of my stuff in guild wars, so I can pick things up again, and if I can't, I'll decide guild wars is so stupid I don't want to buy a real game. Please, don't say "Just buy the full version" or make fun of me or give me an answer that doesn't really answer my question. You can sell your stuff to the merchant in town. It shouldn't say your backpack is empty. I'm not sure why you're seeing that unless possibly the backpack is unchecked on the merchants view list. Your character can have 1 backpack, 1 belt pouch, 2 bags and 1 equipment pack to hold stuff and sometimes players will uncheck one that contains valuable items they don't want to accidentally click and sell to the merchant.
I know it's frustrating not being able to drop or trade. A-net made that change a year or 2 ago to fight back against the gold sellers. Gold sellers were grabbing 1000s of trial accounts and using them to spam and trade gold to the buyers. Both spamming and RMT (real money trading) will get your account banned so they figured throw away trial accounts were the best way around it.

I have 2 GW accounts. The second one is new and is just Nightfall so far. I have all campaigns and Gwen on my first one, so I know how cool the others are and what they offer. If I use the Epic trial key for I got with NF for Factions and Proph, will I get to keep what I get after the trial is up? (Experience, Gold, Items, Skills, etc)

Guild Wars Trial & Secondary Professions?
I bought the Guild Wars trilogy trial dvd. I already have Prophecies and Nightfall, so I wanted to try Factions. I bought Assassin and Ritualist as a secondary profession for one of my nightfall characters. When the trial is over will I be able to keep my two secondary professions? Or will they disappear? Its a really fun game, but no where near as potent as WoW if you ask me..that game destroys lives. Frankly I wouldn't recommend any of the games soley on the fact that they're amazingly addictive in a bad way.

I play Guild Wars a lot (Cyrus The Almighty), but even I'm not sure what's wrong. Maybe it's because he doesn't actually have the game (just using the trial). Try meeting your friend at a key point (Examples: Dye Trader, Craftsman Corner, Skill Trainer, etc.). If that doesn't work, I'm not really sure what's wrong. Ask the actual company that created GuildWars (NC Soft) if they know what's wrong or why you can't see your friend.

I play Guild Wars a lot (Cyrus The Almighty), but even I'm not sure what's wrong. Maybe it's because he doesn't actually have the game (just using the trial). Try meeting your friend at a key point (Examples: Dye Trader, Craftsman Corner, Skill Trainer, etc.). If that doesn't work, I'm not really sure what's wrong. Ask the actual company that created GuildWars (NC Soft) if they know what's wrong or why you can't see your friend.
